Language and Translation
The Icelandic Bible
There are twelve full editions of the Icelandic Bible, if one includes the incomplete Old Norse Stjórn (dating to probably the 13th century) to and including the newest translation of 2007. Of these twelve editions, only four are easily available to the public.
I decided to contribute towards making older translations available to the public. In co-operation with the Icelandic Bible Society, I typed up two important translations, from 1584 and 1841. They are now digitally available at the society’s website biblian.is. (See links below.) Hopefully the day will come when all the editions will be available online.
